Prints and Portraits!
Iíve been learning all about monoprinting, etching and aquatints with John Howard at his brilliant studio on Jubilee Wharf in Penryn. Itís great learning new stuff and really inspiring to work alongside other artists, especially as it can be so isolating working alone most of the time. Iíve got a few pieces and will load them up here pretty soon.
I have a backburner project going on at the moment which is about working with people that I know on a series of collaborative portraits - all based around the theme that we are all, individually, worldmakers. It is proving to be both challenging and fascinating given that I am asking people to consider their particular life story and decide how to present themselves in a composition. My task is to take their idea and create their portrait with them. I have posted a few of the pieces here - its a slowburner but brilliant working with lovely people and some great ideas!
Thatís what Iím about at the moment and Iíve finally decided Iím ready for commissions. Iím just working on a new one at the moment and will post it on here as soon as itís ready, which should be by the end of February. Meanwhile, I need to find time to get back into the regular Thursday life drawing sessions at Peter Leightonís lovely studio in Constantine... talented people, great music, tea and biscuits, lovely models... I will stick some of life drawing studies on here soon.
